Responsibilities:

Mr. Ensign's responsibilities include project design development, working drawing production, project management, and construction observation. He has also performed as a project designer on a wide range of projects.

Experience:

Matt has over 10 years of diverse experience as a landscape architect, including master planning and design for comprehensive parks and recreation systems, large to intimately scaled public parks, urban streetscapes, large scale residential estate and equestrian farms, highway expansion buffering and median planting, campus planning, historic preservation, and large scale commercial and institutional projects in urban, suburban and rural settings.

His recent work with Bentley Koepke Inc. includes the following projects:

  • U.S.  EPA AWBERC Facility, Cincinnati, Ohio:  High image security project for 22 acre site of National Office for Homeland Security Research enhancing institutional identity while deterring vehicular intrusion.
  • Annex Plaza, U.S.  EPA AWBERC Facility, Cincinnati, Ohio: Design of a dynamic  pedestrian friendly, gathering spot/ entry plaza  as  "forecourt" for the recently completed Annex Building, grounding the building  while deterring vehicular intrusion through "designed" security elements.
  • Vanke Block, Beijing, China: Conceptual design and schematic development of a 10 city block residential development including creation of building courtyards, pedestrian streets, commercial corridor, promenade and fountain, strolling garden, club plaza, and fountain and exhibition area.
  • Shelby Park, Louisville, Kentucky: Restoration of Olmsted Brothers' 16 acre neighborhood park.
  • MainStreet Open Space, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio:  Major multi-use open space and pedestrian corridor development in central campus in collaboration with Hargreaves  Associates and Glaserworks.
  • Tangeman University Center, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio: Construction documents for significant open space serving as both a pedestrian and service corridor connecting student center and football stadium with MainStreet Open Space Project in Collaboration with GBBN and Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, LLC.
  • Montgomery County Water Treatment Plant, Montgomery County, Ohio: Master planning, design and construction documents for new nanofiltration water treatment facility campus.
Matt's analytical and technical skills, coupled with his design ability, have led to his successful management of projects from the design development phase through construction documents. He has proven to be an effective team member/collaborator with architects, engineers and multiple disciplines, achieving projects that are beyond the sum of the team members' individual professions.
